Freshman Year
Two Thousand Seventeen - Two Thousand Eighteen
Computer Science and Autonomous Vehicles
As a freshman I am excited to join in the Harvey Mudd community. College is definitely a challenge compared to high school. But upperclassmen and professors are extremely supportive and there are many resources that I have definitely used to survive my first semester. I feel like I have learned so much, being constantly amazed at how complex the world around us is. One thing I really enjoyed about my courses this year was that they tied into real world events, research, and future goals. All of a sudden, my learning seemed genuinely applicable. Another thing I learned was how much I enjoyed computer science. So much so that now I am considering majoring in CS.
Adjusting to dorm life and living on my own didn't seem like a drastic transition. My independence in doing my own laundry, helping cook meals, and managing my time helped. The main difference I noticed was the noise levels. Granted, I live in West Dorm. However, I have gotten used to the constant music and really enjoy the variety.
